Long Overdue Finish

Well this week has been relatively slow paced in my house. My husband and I welcomed our first child into the world a little over a week ago! Definitely my greatest work in progress ;) Needless to say the quilting has been backburnered and the snuggling, napping, adjusting has taken precedent.

I did however finish a longterm W.I.P. the week prior to his arrival.

My Boomerang quilt!

I used Florence by Denyse Schmidt for this one and backed it in Chicopee corduroy for extra snuggly warmth. This quilt sat as a finished top for almost a year! I hate when that happens, so a quick basting and a few hours of stipple quilting on the white… and voila!
This quilt is looking for a new how and some snuggling this winter!
It has been listed in my etsy shop

Quilt Stats
Pattern - Boomerang by Crazy Old Ladies
Fabric - Florence by Denyse Schmidt, backed in Chicopee corduroy
Size - approximately 58" x 70"
Pieced and Quilted by me

W.i.P. and FNSI

I'm doubling up this week, my works in progress as well as what I want to accomplish this Friday night as part of the sew-in. Somehow, I always always miss this and i'd love to be able to join in!

Works in Progress-
1. 3x6 bee blocks - hoping to finish these this week

2. SS EPP work - trying to organize my template pieces/fabric pieces for mom and me at SS since I've roped Katy into teaching me since I couldn't get into the class

3. Travel Handmade - some mystery pieces :)

4. Indie quilt top - almost done!

Sounds that that should keep me busy - Also need to work on the mystery Christmas project (@knotted_thread) if you're interested on instagram, I found out that there are 97 days to Christmas today and I have A LOT to do..

On a different note, Toni is having a giveaway celebration, winner gets $30 to Knotted-Thread so go check it out!!

Happy hump day!!

W.i.P.

Well, im not sure if it's because the SS is looming or what, but my sewing is back in full force! I've started many new projects, and completed... not so many :)

New Projects
1. Indie quilt - I dove into my Indie bundle last week and this is what i've come up with almost a complete top

 2. 3x6 block swap - all pieces cut, must begin teh paper piecing

3. Road to Tennessee quilt - I decided to break into my charm packs and start using up my fabrics, I'm beginning to think i'm a hoarder..

We'll see how this one works out.

Ongoing Projects
1. I-Spy charm swap - waiting on the last few charms, deadline this weekend
(there are 2 large boxes like this)

2. DWR quilt - I'm working on this one with Rebecca and Kelsey - I got a bit carried away last night and ended up completing all 80 of my arcs! I'm about 3 weeks ahead of schedule now, which is probably better with everything else I need to get working on!

3. Mystery Christmas Project - stalled.
(This is the project you need to look at on instagram, sorry!)

I'm linking up with Lee this week

W.i.P.

What? I have a W.i.P ?!
Well, I have works in progress that are goals..

1. DWR arcs - 12 down, 10 more this week

PLUS, the amazing Jess saw that I was using Fandango and
graciously offered to send me some scraps
I greedily immediately accepted!
All cut up and ready to go!

2. Night and Day quilt - these are squares made by the talented ladies of the We Bee Modern Too bee

I have a few more to finish up
then i'm making some to add to the bunch
I'm thinking this needs some gray/ash sashing to tone down the busy-ness
thoughts?

3. Mystery Project
Sorry, no pictures, recipient reads the blog
but you can see them through my instagram
follow me at
knotted_thread

4. 3x6 quilt blocks
I'd like to get the test block done this week

5. We Bee Modern Too - August
done!

6. do.good stitches - August
no progress.

Lastly,
A new blog hop i'd like to tell you about.

Soma is running it and she has roped me in convinced me I can do it
She's running an October paper piecing event where everyday a new blog will post an original paper pieced pattern for free, that is affiliated with Halloween.
Now, I personally have NEVER made my own pattern, however,
with Soma in my corner, I think i'll give it a shot
Go check it out, she's got some more spaces to fill
She's welcoming everyone, newbies, intermediates, and advanced so if your
looking to push yourself outside your comfort zone like me to improve your ability
jump on board, we can help each other!
:)

As always, i'm linking up with Lee

W.i.P. Wednesday

It's been a long time since I linked up for this, but here goes nothing!
Summer is OVER here, school started last week
and after ending late on the east coast and starting VERY early in the Pacific
Summer was basically nonexistent..

1. DWR Quilt

My DWR arc pieces are cut and ready to go --
who knew a friendly push could help as much as it did

My lack of sewing is a bit frustrating,
hopefully more sewing this week..

:)

W.i.P Wednesday

This week its mainly bee's and blocks to update..

1. Quilting for Kids - Asterik blocks (done)
Seriously recommend helping out if you can. They're easy blocks and you can put your own spin on them, great way to try something new and step outside of your comfort zone :)

4. Love Circle
    do. good stitches - February
no progress. I've been avoiding it.. want to see why?

February is the month of curves.
This is Rachel's block

w.i.p. Wednesday #13

So, since I skipped last week due to the lack of finishes/ progress and holiday.. here I am!
So far this week seems to be mostly about cutting up fabric for the various projects I want to do, then no sewing them back together.. somethings wrong with this picture!
Here's what I mean..

Works in Progress:
Project 1
Still waiting on some more fabric, but this is how the pile has sat since Sunday.

I finally cut into my Ruby layer cake and laid out the pieces..
Then I lost stamina and couldn't start piecing..
Luckily! I have purchased a flannel backed tablecloth earlier that day and the top 4 rows are on that..
I pinned them in place and folded it up (bottom row stacked separately, obviously)

 greatest idea ever
It took me so LONG to place all the pieces, I would have hated to do it again!
(This was supposed to be my "design wall" of sorts, but I'm lacking a wall to put it on!
whoops! haha

(are you noticing the trend yet?)

Project 3 - Scrappy Christmas Quilt
 more cutting
any observant people notice the top left corner?
thats what I have sitting under my "sewing" table haha

woohoo! Finally some sewing!
only.. 100 more to go? oy.
Anyone remember these scraps?
They're from this quilt -- this new one is for boyfriend's mom

Finished:
3. Christmas table runner

On Hold:
1. Swoon (pictures of all the blocks together -1 coming soon)

My brain is in a fog these days, so i'm sure I forgot some things, but thats the gist of this week..
Hopefully you're all having more success than me!
Oh, anyone else realize December 1 is TOMORROW.
oy. mad rush to finish gifts can commence... NOW.

:)

4. Christmas Scrappy Quilt - no progress, but need to get moving on it!

Finished Projects:

2. Wall Hanging/Table Runner Swap - sent to my partner with some goodies :)

(for some reason I completely forgot to to photograph the package before sending it!)

(seriously, I promise, last time I'll be showing this! haha)

On Hold:
1. Spanish Tiles

I feel like I spend my entire weekend sewing.. and don't have much to show for it?
I'm looking at my rotary table and I only see 2 projects on it..
What's wrong with me!? haha

W.I.P. Wednesday #11

2. My 1st tutorial - stay tuned!

5. Christmas Scrappy Quilt - made from leftovers of this quilt -- no progress

Finished - 0

On Hold -

New - Too many to count, but I'm refraining starting any until I at least finish 1-2 more :)

Despite the lack of finishes and the fact that I'm probably boring all of you with the SAME pictures
(i know, i know i'm sorry!!) I've been feverishly working on my first tutorial for all of you and it's done, just have to write it up -- hopefully this week!
It's something for the holidays! :)
