Sorry these are so delayed, I just couldn't get motivated at home to getting writing a blog post! As many of you are aware I had a "surprise" Christmas project I was working on since August! I took pictures through instagram (@knotted_thread) but I never posted pictures because my dad reads the blog to keep up with me while i'm in Hawaii (how cute is he! haha) Anyway, my roots are in counted cross stitch and my dad is an olde world map fanatic..
This was a labor of love
I started it August 1st and it took me almost 4 full months to finish it
working consistently, basically everyday on it.
I think he likes it..
Well, I can say without a shadow of a doubt, i'll
never make it again, but i'm glad he liked it!
:)
Wow! That is quite a commitment. I'm a cross stitcher from way back too, and this makes me want to try it again--maybe. :) He looks so happy with it, so I'm sure it was worth it!
ReplyDeleteOh wow! The last big project I took on got abandoned and it was smaller than this! Of course that was like 4 years ago when I had 2 and 4 year olds running around, but still. I'm sure your Dad loved it--looks like it and I love that he reads the blog. Great job, Dad! Way to make your sweet daughter feel special!!
ReplyDeleteVery very cool!! That WAS a labor of love but obviously so worth it!
ReplyDeleteAwe, come on! One more?
ReplyDeleteI know as a former cross stitcher how much time=love went into this project. So glad it was well received.
ReplyDeleteThat is one stunning Christmas present. Isn't it funny how all that work is worth it when you see a smile like the one on your Dad's face. I made a Christmas gift for my parents a couple of years ago which took me a similar amount of time, when asked by my sister if I could do one for her I said no, only someone who raised me gets that much attention ;)
ReplyDeleteYou have SO much more patience than I do!!!! It is beautiful but there is no way in hell I would ever attempt it.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Susan, you're a far better woman than I, but glad he loved it! PS, I have the same problem with parents reading, whose bright idea was it to teach them about these things? ;o)
ReplyDeleteI have the chart for that project. It's on my some day list.
ReplyDeleteWow, that is so cool! Good job.
ReplyDeleteThis is fantastic. I love maps too and I have a print of this but may have to consider doing the cross stitch version.
ReplyDeleteI love cross stitch! That piece came out beautifully!! Just stunning!
ReplyDeleteAll I can say is WOW. That is so amazing! You have incredible patience!
ReplyDeleteWow! A labor of love indeed! You Dad absolutely loves it I can tell from the pictures. You are a wonderful daughter.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day.
Always, Queenie
Wow - I am in awe xxx
ReplyDeleteWow, I used to cross stitch alot (have one of those WIP's around too lol) so totally understand the work AND the love that went into it--he looks so happy with it-- Priceless
ReplyDeleteThis turned out amazing! I'm glad your dad likes it so much too. :) Now you can breathe a sigh of relief for finishing it. It's like the marathon of cross-stitch! ;)
ReplyDeleteYou did such an amazing job Jennifer and I loved seeing your progress pics on IG. I love the photos of your dad - wonderful.
ReplyDeleteThis looks stunning. Do you have a link to the chart? I might want to try it out one day
ReplyDeleteWhat a great gift, and so thoughtful! Your dad looks so happy with his gift, too!
