Back in Action!

Hey everybody!
Sorry for the blogging hiatus! It wasn't even planned,
but then with the holiday life took over, yadda yadda..
Anyway! I've been busy and I have some finishes to show you!

first up - snowflake dresden
first time i've done a double dresden and I really like how it turned out!

zig-zagged the appliqué snowflake on top
(ah! imperfections up close! haha)

Then, I finished my elf wall hanging!

Seriously, in love with this one, can't wait to hang it up!
I also ATTEMPTED to FMQ the borders..
that was another experience on its own and this is how it came out
(of course i'm not showing the curlicues with the wonky sides or straight curves?!)
definitely need more practice, but I tried!
acceptance is the first step?

More to show you tomorrow,
I also received some fun mail this past weekend!!
Have a happy Monday everyone!

Christmas Runner

So I finished my table runner for the Modern Christmas table Runner Swap but realized I never showed it!
Since I was a bit under the weather this weekend I didn't really start sewing until last night,
I did however finish my quilt top for my Christmas surprise quilt, but I want to wait till its completely done to show you :)

Straight line machine quilting following the zig-zags

Then I also had to show you this.
Found it at Joanns this weekend!
Since my FMQing will NOT be at this level by Christmas,
I cheated and bought some to make a simple runner for our kitchen table.
front and back

As always, I'm linking up this week, check out the participating in link on the top of the blog.
Until next time..

Sunday Sewing

Well this weekend was dedicated to swaps.

First up, I finished up my scrap swap package and will be sending it out today.

Next, I worked on my wall hanging for the SewHappyGeek wall hanging/table runner swap.
Which by the way, I love! My partner totally has the same color schemes that I like so I had a bunch to work with which was great!

Love in the Mist block

I think i've fallen in love with hand stitching.. i love the look of it!

Lastly, I almost finished my Christmas table runner, just need to finish up the binding.
Pretty successful weekend, though I only worked on the "easy" projects that were designed and cut and just needed some TLC.
What that means is now the hard(er) projects are left that I need to finish for Christmas presents.

Have a fabulous Monday everyone!

Sunday Sewing

Alright, this weekend I was able to devote a solid amount of time to sewing.. yay!!
(I forgot how my back feels after 4-5 hours at the machine.. ouch!)

Woohoo!! Finished the top quilt for my elf wall hanging!

Close-up of all the blocks - I decided to keep the witches heels for a "girly elf"
added some variety :)

Thennn, Friday night my younger sister came home from school.
Apparently theres a bright street light sitting between her windows and though she has blinds at her college apartment she still has trouble blocking the lights.
We went and picked up some fabric - couldn't find any cute upholstery(thicker) fabric so we went with cotton and I backed it up to black fabric.

Total of 4 panels made, it was a windy day and I didn't want to wrestle with all of them!

The happy monster with her curtain panel :)

So all in all, productive weekend, I also got the top almost finished on my christmas table runner - just need to add some borders.. more on that later this week!

Have a great Monday!

Sunday Sewing

Alright, so this weekend I was GUNG-HO with all the sewing I was going to get done.. I made my lists, I had my supplies.. then, Saturday I wasn't feeling so hot..

So today (sunday) I decided to get moving!
I pulled out my Christmas stash to start on a runner for the swap I'm in, pulled out my scraps for the  scrap swap... and then..

nothing.

Inspiration was totally lacking.
I think the fact that it was 85 degrees here today and I had Christmas fabric on my lap was what started the downward spiral..

So, I went outside and gave my puppy a bath.. so beautiful, why not -- she wasn't very pleased though haha

such a sad face, but so cute and now she's CLEAN!

Thennn, I wasted more time and made chocolate chip cookies :)

Alright, down to business -- I had my first attempt at printing on fabric today.. went well until my printer decided it was tired and was going to eat the fabric instead of print on it haha

Finally productivity! A pouch I made for my scrap swap partner! This was another first! First time Ive ever made a buttonhole!! I used this tutorial

Inside, could be used as a coin purse or travel sewing case :)

Alright, so all in all, productive Sunday turned into a quasi-productive, I'll take what I got done kind of day.. thats the way it goes -- busy week ahead so we'll see how much sewing I actually accomplish..

It's going to be 82 degrees by me again tomorrow, at this rate.. my Christmas sewing will never get done!!

Hiya Everybody!
This weekend was spent with my family in Catskills, NY and let me tell you, for someone who has not yet experienced the first signs of fall... it was COLD up there!

First up, the winner of the giveaway!!
Please excuse, I took screen shots because i'm still VERY new to all this..

Number 9 is.. STEPH!

Congratulations Steph, I've sent an email to you and to Coley from Twin-Stitchers about redeeming your prize.. Thanks to everyone that entered and spread the word!!

In other news..
While there, I was able to complete my first P.I.F.

But... i'm only showing you the back. I want it to be a surprise for the recipient!

Hope you don't mind that I put a label on the back, I personally want to remember where things come from!!

I was also able to work on my new embroidery pattern by Twin Stitchers!

This is as far as I've gotten - Not so pretty looking with the water-soluble marker still there.. but its cute so far!
