Mod Times Quilt Along

So I decided to take the plunge a few weeks back and participate in a quilt-along... only problem was the quilt along was already finished.. whoops!

I fell in love with this quilt a looooong time ago.

I also had purchased some of the DS fabric when it was first available through an awesome sale at Joann's. I loved the initial picture posted with the quilt along so I knew I would have to use that in my quilt as well.

Here's what I came up with...

TA DAAAAAA!
Along with the DS for the center blocks, I outlined them in Kona gray and used Kona snow for the white. The back is just something I picked up in my travels. It was a no name, nothing special but because of the blues I had to have it.

 guess what.. it matches, perfectly!
The contrast between dark and light picks up all the blue shades on the front

As you can see I just did a simple straight quilting, because i'm still adjusting to this before I jump into the world of free motion quilting (i'm terrified).

Alright, one more picture with my FABULOUS backdrop.. totally had to take advantage when I was there!!

sigh.. just another reminder that summer has reached a close.. its bittersweet for sure

Sunday ME-time

Alright, so this weekend was BUSY.

Friday was the San Gennaro festival in NYC with some friends and it was absolutely amazing!!

Still new to the world of blogging..

Thennn, on Saturday we went to New Hope, PA. My boyfriend NEVER has a weekend  day off from work so we definitely took advantage and explored New Hope. 

If you've never been, I definitely recommend it, such a great place and all kinds of shops along main street.

We had lunch at this great place "The Landing" right on the Delaware.

Overall, great weekend but as you can see.. ZERO SEWING.

So, today's Sunday and I spent the entire morning with my grandparents researching for an upcoming project.. no pictures yet, but soon!

I managed to finalize my Goodie Swap items and get them ready for posting on Friday!!

Now, the rest of the night I'll be working on some fall related sewing..

Thursday Burnout

I don't know what it is, but by the time Thursday rolls around.. I'm too mentally and physically exhausted to get to any of the fun things i've been to busy to do all week!! =(

My to-do list includes:

1. binding my last mug rug for my goodie swap

2. pay it forward gift #! (whose could it be!!)

3. swoon blocks

So many lovely colors looking at me, and yet.. no motivation.

In other news, this weekend is the San Gennaro festival in NYC - technically it starts tonight and lasts for 10 days 

I'll have my own pictures for you but thats a glimpse -- after having lived in Italy for a few months, this is the closest I'll get to actually being back and I CANT WAIT :)
