Ginger Pots

This weekend I worked primarily on a custom quilt request I had received a few months ago. It is intended as an engagement gift for the customer's daughter. She didn't need in any hurry and had mentioned she thought her daughter would be getting engaged this fall. Last week I made the first few pots and sent them off to her for approval to make sure it was what she had envisioned.

She emailed me back on Saturday morning that she loved it... and her daughter was getting engaged in an hour! Well, that definitely put the pedal to the (sewing machine) metal! I hate gifting late and with the move and new job this fell to back burner which made me feel even worse!

I added a scrappy blue border around the whole thing

I completed all of the ginger pots Saturday and the quilt top on Sunday!

All thats left is a quick run to the store for flannel backing and a marathon basting/quilting session this week!

One Year

So, this weekend marks the one year anniversary that I decided to take the plunge and open up the Knotted-Thread fabric shop. It has been an amazing year and one I wouldn't trade for anything. It wasn't easy, I cried many times, but I have loved every second of the process and I am SO appreciative to each and every one of you that has supported me in this endeavor this past year.

It is a learning process and I am in no way finished learning. Everyday I tweak this or think of how next time I would do something differently. I love being able to collaborate with bloggers as sponsors, through blog hops, etc. This quilting community is absolutely amazing and filled with the most generous, creative people that I consider myself lucky to be able to work with!

Hello, Hello

Is this thing on? I feel like its been ages since i've written a real blog post... oh wait, it has been! Since moving back to NJ this summer and starting my new teaching position I feel like its just been such a whirlwind! I've taken over my parents basement with fabric from the shop and i'm still living out of boxes personally and for the shop.

Anyway, enough about that -- I spent Labor Day weekend at my favorite spot in the world and i'm feeling refreshed and ready to go!

I'll have some new projects ready to show soon! In the meantime, Acacia has shipped and will be arriving next week!! I've set up some preorder listings in case anyone is as eager as I am to get my hands on some! :)
